Lake Bled & Bled Castle
Lake Bled is one of Slovenia’s most famous attractions, known for its serene beauty and rich history. A leisurely walk around the lake (6 km, approx. 1.5 hours) is highly recommended. From our house, the most scenic route to the lake is a 3 km forest trail that exits at Velika Zaka near the Bled camping site, ideal for avoiding Bled’s parking challenges. You can also drive, following the road past the Mercator market.
The iconic island in Lake Bled, formed by the Bohinj glacier, is home to the Church of the Assumption of Mary, a historical site with a tradition of ringing the church bell to make a wish. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit this enchanting location by taking a traditional Pletna boat ride, or capture breathtaking views of the lake from the Ojstrica viewpoint.
The castle is perched atop a steep cliff above lake Bled, it has a stunning location and breath-taking views. The first written mention of the castle dates back to 1011. Bled castle ranks among Slovenia’s best preserved and maintained citadels. A traveller standing at the castle terrace looking at the lake, the island and further across the region will never forget the view. France Preseren, a Slovenian poet write in one of his poems “No, Carniola has a prettier scene, than this, resembling paradise scene”

Lake Bohinj, Savica Waterfall & Vogel Ski Resort
Lake Bohinj is 24km from Bohinjska Bela and are considered by locals to be more picturesque than lake Bled. During the summer months swimming and kayaking is popular. Many high Alpine hiking trails surround the lake.
The Savica waterfall is on the western side of lake Bohinj. The waterfall is fed by water from the Triglav Lakes Valley flowing under a steep rocky terrain with the highest point named Prsivec through a horizontal cave tunnel. This cave system is only accessible with guides and the right equipment.
Vogel Ski Resort is one of the biggest Ski resorts in Slovenia. It is located on the southern shore of lake Bohinj. The resort can be reached by means of a cable car. The resort offer quality skiing on natural snow for up to six months (from November to May). In other seasons, Vogel spoils you with panoramic views, starting points for high mountain hiking tours.

Take a walk around the historical city of Ljubljana, to explore its major attractions. The castle, river, Tripple bridge and Dragon bridge is not to be missed. The distance to Ljubljana is 60km.

Postojna Cave & Predjama Castle
Postojna cave is the world’s most captivating cave with magnificent formations and diverse fauna. Take a unforgettable ride on Postojnacave’s underground train. The Predjama Castle offers an unforgettable experience in the fairytale world of knights. The impregnable medieval marvel has been perched in the middle of a 123-metre-high cliff for more than 800 years. Behind the largest cave castle in the world, there is a network of secret tunnels, from where the knight Erazem of Predjama would set out on his plundering expeditions. Vintgar Gorge
Visiting the gorge is 8km from Bohinjska Bels). Visiting the gorge is highly recommended as it is labelled as one of the most beautifull in the world.

Triglav national park
Visiting the national park is spectacular. It should be on every guest's to-do-list. It is possible to hike to the highest peak.
Hiking trials around Bohinjska Bela
The Grumble Bear Trail follow the trial a real bear once walked in Bohinjska Bela. You will walk where Grumble Bear did, discovering what happened to him on his way through our village. The paws will direct you where to go, while tasks at the fourteen stops will test your enthusiasm and skill. Along the trail, take a close look at nature, its trees and its flowers; explore. At each stop, perform the task described on its signboard and elaborated in the list of stops and tasks. If you have a pen on you, find a letter on each signboard, and copy the letters one by one into the boxes bellow – thus, you will get a message in the end. And if you haven't a pen, that’s okay, too, a surprise awaits you in the end – the bravest among you will be able to look into a real bear den.
